size seems to run big- disappointed

I bought this for my son's confirmation. According to Josten's Class ring sizer, he wears a 10 so I bought a 10 1/2 since he is still growing, however, when it arrived it is so large it won't even fit his thumb.

The scripture is nice and clear and the ring has a nice look to it on his hand, but it's Waaay to big so I ordered another one but smaller. Sadly, it has been two weeks and it still has not shipped yet so needless to say I am a bit disappointed
